The Muddy River Art Association's Annual Scholastic Art Show opened Saturday, March 14 with a reception for students, parents, teachers and the public.  Works by 102 students from eight area schools are on display.  Everyone is invited to drop by and see it at the Library auditorium.  Juror Elizabeth Betson remarked on the quality of the art and the difficulty of selecting works to be recognized.  Every student received a Certificate of Excellence for participation.  First Place winners received a ribbon and $25 cash.  Second and Third Place winners received ribbons, as did those awarded Honorable Mention. 

The winners from each school are as follows: 

Clemmons Elementary School (Teacher Mrs. Paige) - Abigail Smith - 1st Place, Anna Holbrook - 2nd Place, Chase Monroe - 3rd Place, Jack Stemper - Honorable Mention and Giselle Galan-Rea - Honorable Mention.

Lewisville Elementary School (Teacher K. Hartman) - Katherine Baker - 1^st Place, Kayla Taylor, 2^nd Place, Ryley McCrimmon - 3^rd Place, Vernon Drew - Honorable Mention and Olivia Lavack - Honorable Mention.

Marvin Ward Elementary School (Teacher A. Swift) - Shaun Laney - 1st Place,
Alex Ried - 2nd Place, Micah Leggett - 3rd Place, Parker McCallum - Honorable Mention and Avery Pfaff - Honorable Mention.
